It was going on three in the morning when I got back to our villa. My body was swaying from too many tequila shots. Since Guy left me destitute, I said screw it and got drunk. After dropping my heels at the door, I took my dress off. My body was on fire while I held the power button on my speaker before connecting it to my phone. I put on “Roses” by BJ The Chicago Kid, allowing the music to flow through me. My eyes swept the room, searching for Guy, but he was nowhere to be found. I know he didn’t leave me on this island by myself. I’m too drunk for this. Damn, I gotta pee.

I rushed up the corridor to the bathroom where steam from the shower hit me. I sat on the toilet, releasing the pressure in my bladder. I threw my head back while jamming and snapping to the music. This is my song!

Once I was done on the toilet, I went to the sink where I began washing my hands. The sound of Guy’s deep voice filling the air made me glance over my shoulder at him. How does he know every song on my damn playlists? Rolling my eyes, I began drying my hands. He gets on my nerves. Ole big head ass. I shook the water from my hands before grabbing one of the many hand towels off the travertine counter. Gold and sienna orange accents decorated the bathroom with huge plants, giving a safari theme inside. The interior was cuter still, with wooden floors polished to a warm honey-gold and exposed brick walls showcasing vintage travel posters. The shower took over the center of bathroom while a jacuzzi tub sat off to the side.

“I’m glad you made it back safely.” He spoke in a deep guttural voice and somewhat under his breath.

The condensation from the shower had the mirror too foggy for him to see me frowning. “Says the person who left me for destitute.”

“Destitute?”

“You heard what I said,” I snapped on my way to the door. He left me; that was all that mattered to me.

“Come here,” he commanded, stopping me dead in my tracks.

The music switched to Tank’s “I Don’t Think You’re Ready”. I took one step toward the double sliding doors.

“Juliana, bring yo’ ass here.”

The growl in his voice had my skin tingling. Should I stay or run for it? But what if he chases me? Wait, he can’t chase you. I pressed a hand to my mouth to stifle my giggles. Go see what he wants and stop being scary. But why, when he’s clearly not messing with me like that?

My head lowered, watching my footsteps one after the other. My hands clasped behind my back to keep from trembling. When I got to the glass shower door, I ran my tongue across the bottom of my lip, anchoring my attention on Guy. The soapy suds ran down his skin, making it glisten underneath the dim lighting.
